  • Posters

Many topics are represented in our collection: water (wetlands, stream fauna, water cycle, etc.), forestry, soil sciences, conservation practices, and natural resource stewardship, just to name a few.  If your desired topic has anything to do with conservation of natural resources, chances are we have it or can order it!  Just give us a call for free posters.

  • Comic / Activity / Coloring Books

Appropriate for elementary grade levels, we have multiple copies on hand, and ordering information for a variety of kids’ activity books.  Topics include but aren’t limited to: soil, water, food, plants, agriculture, wildlife, habitat, land use, and conservation history.

  • Stream Quality Monitoring Kit

More appropriate for secondary grade levels, our kit includes the necessary materials to perform both biological and chemical tests for stream quality.

  • The Streamulator Stream Table

The newest addition to our educational materials, this is a very popular item.  It is designed for portability, and accurately demonstrates how water erosion occurs.  It may be brought in for presentation by our staff, or loaned out with the provision that the presenter is properly trained in setup, use, and breakdown.

  • Enviroscape

This is a tabletop landscape model, which shows various land uses, point vs. non-point source pollution, drainage patterns and best management practices.  Presentation and loan guidelines are the same as above.

  • Ground Water Flow Model

This is a cross-sectional sand tank, filled with sand of varying particle sizes.  It includes representations of wells and lakes.  It very clearly shows how water moves underground – through the pore spaces between particles.  Presentation and loan guidelines are the same as above.

  • Ornamental Pond Kit

If anyone was at the Montgomery County Fair in 2000, our portable ornamental pond kit (donated by Meijer) was a pleasing attraction.  It has a 50 gallon kidney-shaped hard plastic liner, with a filter and water pump.  It was nicely landscaped with shrubbery (donated by Stockslagers), aquatic plants, and a variety of fish.  At other times of the year, teachers may borrow this kit for an extended period, if they would find it useful to compliment a unit on water quality or habitat.
