Legislative Contacts

There are many aspects to how individuals and communities can contribute to keeping our water clean, using the land sustainably, and sharing habitat with wildlife.  Whether it is recycling or creating habitat in your backyard, we mustn’t forget that public policy can and does affect conservation initiatives on a large scale.

An awareness of larger issues should be a part of any conscientious effort to leave a legacy for conservation.  As such, we will try to keep you informed of important conservation measures on which elected officials and legislators are debating and making decisions that will have far reaching effects.

To find out who your representatives are, you must first know what State Senate District and what State House District you live in.  You must also know what Congressional District you live in to contact your representatives in Washington. The Montgomery County Board of Elections can tell you what voting districts you live in based on your street address. * Please note:  it has recently come to our attention that the legislators prefer to hear from their constituents by a written letter.  Because of the comparative convenience of sending email, representatives' and senators' offices have been deluged with email.  Therefore, replying to correspondence of this type has become more difficult simply because of the volume received.
