Education
Effective conservation of our land and water resources begins with
awareness and understanding. Our outreach and education programs are designed to
address three main ideas: why clean water and fertile topsoil are
important to everyone (not just farmers), what human activities threaten
these vital resources, and how individuals and communities can make
contributions to using our natural resources wisely so that future
generations will have enough - this is the principle of sustainability. Some of our programs also address
other related issues, such as wildlife habitat, land use planning, and
agricultural concerns.
Student Programs
- helping youth to acquire critical thinking
skills and knowledge about how soil and water ecosystems relate to
plant, animal, and human ecology
Teacher Programs - providing educators with training, natural
resources curriculum materials and demonstration models.
Public Outreach - increase awareness and understanding of
natural resource issues; promoting opportunities for stewardship and
use of Best Management Practices
Special Interest Groups - workshops and events related to management practices for stormwater, wildlife habitat, and watershed stewardship.
