Drainage

The Montgomery Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) partners with individual land owners as well as groups of landowners affected by flooding and drainage issues. For the individual landowner, we can offer our assistance to design a plan for your drainage issue. Also, our Contractor List is available to assist you in contacting local contractors who work on drainage issues. This list is not an endorsement of any particular contractor.

For issues involving many landowners, the problem is often the breakdown and failure of large systems put into place long ago, sometimes 100 years! These systems allowed people to farm or build houses on areas that would otherwise be too wet. When they fail they can cause expensive problems for farmers and home owners, and erosion that harms the environment. The Montgomery SWCD is in a unique position to help fix these issues because unlike a municipality, we can work with you on your private land. We’re also experienced in working with the Oho Public Works Commission (OPWC) to obtain Grant funding, greatly lowering the total cost!

The Montgomery SWCD has worked for many years to develop a very successful voluntary drainage program that helps solve the environmental concerns that these failed drainage systems cause, while restoring the original drainage function that these systems once had. We at the Montgomery SWCD take our goal of conservation very seriously, and we strive to make sure each job is done in a way that balances environmental concerns with today’s modern drainage solutions! Contact our office if you have futher questions.
